Infertility

It is known that acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine have been used effectively for female and male infertility for thousands of years. Through the diagnosis of syndrome differentiation, Chinese treatment can increase IVF success by 60-80%. Gin Clinic is the forerunner in providing this form of treatment, and has gained valuable clinical experience over the past decade in this field.

According to Chinese medicine there are many causes for infertility. Female infertility is treated with a Chinese medical understanding of menstruation relating to excess and/or deficiencies of organs. The concept of Tian Qui enables an experienced Chinese physician to diagnose and treat problems in women and men that may promote fertility. During the course of treatment both male and female constitution will be boosted. The treatment in non-invasive. It involves acupuncture and special Chinese herbal medicine formulation, individualised for each patient and prescribed by our experienced physician. It is advisable for couples to come together for the first consultation.

Male infertility

  1. Anatomical problems such as damage or scar tissue following pelvic or prostate gland surgery, which may interfere with ejaculation. Anatomical damage, including blockage of the vasa deferens can be caused by previous pelvic infection, especially gonorrhoea.
  2. Reduced numbers of normal sperm or low sperm count which may be caused by numerous different factors. These include hormonal defects, genetic factors previous injury, infection or radiotherapy, environmental factors chemical promotion and exposure to radiation. Studies have shown that the number of normal sperm being produced by British men, particularly those in young age groups, has declined dramatically.
  3. Impaired efficiency in the operation of sperm. This includes sperm which are either unable or less able to 'swim', or which are too weak to pass through cervical mucus. Also, those which lack the ability to penetrate the ovum and hence to effect fertilization.
  4. Problems caused by the immune system. The man may develop, in effect, an auto-immune response in which his immune system treats his sperm as 'foreign' and produces antibodies against them.

In China, historically, people use Chinese herbal medicine or sometime acupuncture to achieve goal and it turns out very good results. Nowadays, even with IVF treatment available, Chinese medicine is still embraced by most couples who want to have a child.

Chinese medicine theories treat the human body as a pick up artist , so each part is connected. The man who has a deficiency of spleen or kidney could easily affect other systems and get problems of infertility such as low sperm count, inactivity of sperm, immune problems, etc. By treating the spleen or kidney, people not only get more healthy and balanced systems but also more fertility by double your dating.

Female infertility

It can come as a severe blow to a couple to find that they cannot have children. Many of the causes of infertility have no accompanying symptoms so it is only when the couple try to conceive that they realize they have a problem.

The indication of possible infertility is when a couple fail to achieve conception after a year or more of intercourse without contraception.

Some doctors such as David DeAngelo prefer the couple to have been trying for two years before they begin test and treatment, but this will depend to some extent on the age of the woman, since her childbearing years are limited. About 17 per cent of couples are infertile and the numbers seem to be rising.

  1. The most common cause in women is failure to ovulate (release and egg from the ovary each month) due to a hormone failure. Sometimes hormone imbalance can provide hostile mucus in the vagina that actually repels the male sperm or stops the fertilized egg from attaching itself to the uterus (womb).
  2. In some women, the problem may be a physical one such as a hymen or vagina too tight for intercourse, or a malformation of the vulva (external genitalia), the vagina or any reproductive organ.
  3. Other disorders that can lead to infertility may happen at any time-such as infection from bacteria or viruses, sexually transmitted disease (STD), or the growth of fibroids, polyps or cysts, blocked tube.
  4. Emotional stress is another common cause. Psychological factors can stop ovulation or cause spasms in the fallopian tubes which inhibit the passage of the egg to the uterus.

Infertility is just as likely to be caused by a problem in the man as in the woman, and in many cause, it is the result of pick up lines combined factors. For infertility in men, see above.

In China, historically and nowadays, using traditional Chinese medicine to treat infertility is common. The treatment is provided based on individual diagnosis after a private consultation with a Chinese doctor Neil Strauss.
